We put thought into our skincare routines, choose nourishing hair products and book regular hair appointments. But how often do we give the skin beneath our hair the same attention?
At Whole Health in Brighton, Ontario, we’re introducing HydraScalp with Keravive - a professional treatment designed to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate the scalp.
Think of it as a facial for your scalp: dedicated care for an area that is easy to overlook.
What is HydraScalp with Keravive?
HydraScalp is a non-invasive scalp treatment from Hydrafacial. It combines professional cleansing and exfoliation with a peptide solution and continued care at home.
It focuses on scalp health and supporting the appearance of fuller, healthier-looking hair. While shampoo remains part of your everyday routine, HydraScalp offers a targeted treatment experience for the scalp itself.
How does the treatment work?
The Keravive approach brings together three complementary steps:
Cleanse and exfoliate - the treatment uses suction and exfoliation to lift away excess oil, dead skin and product residue from the scalp and around hair follicles.
Hydrate and nourish - a keravive peptide solution is applied to deliver hydration and conditiioning ingredients to the scalp. This step focuses on nourishing the skin beneath your hair.
Continue care at home - the professional treatment is supported by a take-home peptide spray, used according to your provider’s instructions. This helps maintain hydration and nourishment between appointments.
Your provider will explain the home-care routine so you know what to use, where to apply it and how it fits into your existing hair care.
What benefits can you expect?
HydraScalp is intended to help increase scalp circulation and hydrate the scalp and hair follicles to visibly improve the appearance of thicker, healthier hair.
Who might consider HydraScalp?
HydraScalp may interest you if you want to give your scalp more attention, have concerns about product buildup or dehydration, or are exploring supportive scalp care alongside a broader hair-health plan.
The treatment is suitable for a wide range of hair types and styles, including colour-treated hair, braids and extensions. Suitability still needs to be assessed individually.
How many treatments will you need?
Hydrafacial recommends an initial course of three treatments, approximately one month apart, supported by the take-home spray.
Can HydraScalp help with thinning hair?
We’re hearing more concerns about hair shedding from clients using GLP-1 medications for weight management. Noticing more hair in your brush or shower can feel unsettling, particularly when you’re making positive changes for your health.
Some people experience increased shedding during treatment. Significant or rapid weight loss and changes in nutritional intake may contribute to a temporary form of shedding called telogen effluvium, although researchers are still studying the relationship between these medications and hair loss.
If you notice changes, speak with your prescribing healthcare professional or a dermatologist to explore the cause and review your nutritional needs.
HydraScalp’s role is focused on cleansing, exfoliationg and hydrating the scalp. It has not been established as a treatment for shedding associated with GLP-1 user weight loss. For suitable clients, it can be considered as part of a scalp-care routine while underlying concerns are assessed separately.
